Stand off with police ends peacefully

The Dawson Creek RCMP are advising the public that an armed and barricaded event unfolding at the intersection of Old Edmonton Highway and Highway 2 has been cleared and the public can return to the area.

At approximately 05:00 pm the Dawson Creek RCMP received a report of a suicidal man at a private residence. After approximately 2 hours of negotiation the male was successfully taken into custody without any injury. The Old Edmonton Highway was closed off for the duration of the negotiations for the safety of the public but is now open again.

There is no longer any concern for safety and the public may return to the area.
