Police awaiting charge approval after arrest of robbery suspect

On November 10, 2023, at 4:39pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a robbery in progress at a business located in the area of 86th Street and 93rd Avenue in Fort St John.

Frontline police officers and the RCMP Police Dog Services unit immediately attended and determined a single Caucasian male suspect had approached staff displaying a firearm and demanding cash. The suspect received a small amount of cash prior to departing the scene.

Police were unable to locate the suspect but video surveillance was obtained prior to police clearing the scene.

On November 12, 2023 at 8:24pm the Fort St John RCMP received an unrelated report about a man matching the description of the robbery suspect. It was also determined that the man had multiple endorsed and unendorsed warrants.

Fort St John RCMP attended the man’s residence and arrested him on outstanding warrants. Attending frontline police officers determined the man matched the description of the robbery suspect and arrested him for Robbery.

The man was transported to the detachment where he was remanded in police custody until November 13, 2023 and then again until November 16, 2023 when he will reappear in court.

Charges such as Robbery with a Firearm, Disguise with Intent as well as multiple other firearm related charges have been recommended.
