Wildfire evacuates music event

On August 6th, 2023, at 7:30 p.m., a group of four were riding all-terrain-vehicles (ATV) in the Coalmont area, when one of their ATV's caught on fire. The ATV fire subsequently caused a wildfire to spread rapidly toward Colemont, a village of 500 people. Also held in the area was a music party with up to 1000 participants.

Princeton RCMP, along with emergency crews, BC Wildfire Service personnel attended the area.

The four ATV'ers were accounted for.

All music festival participants were safely evacuated.

As of August 7th, no evacuation orders were employed.

BC Wildfire Service is utilizing grounds and air resources.

The wildfire has caused no reported injuries.
