File # 2023-1189

On March 6th, 2023, two people were sent to Shuswap Lakes General Hospital after suffering minor injuries.

At approximately 4:25 p.m., frontline officers with the Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance where a vehicle struck a man in the 1100 block of Lakeshore Drive SW.

Officers responded with BC Ambulance.

The officers at the scene were able to determine that there had been an altercation between four people who were known to one another. The dispute was allegedly over money being owed.

The two men who felt they were owed money used a blunt object to damage the vehicle driven by the other party in the dispute. The driver of the vehicle tried to escape the damage done to his vehicle, and in the process struck one of the other pedestrians involved.

A physical confrontation began between all parties, with the driver and passenger in the car fighting with the other male pedestrian.

The altercation and collision sent two people to hospital with various minor cuts, scrapes, and a possible fractured hand.

All the people involved in the incident are known to one another, as well as to police.

Update: One of the parties struck by the vehicle, and who was subsequently transported to hospital, has unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained, and has since died.

The incident remains under investigation, as independent evidence is obtained.
