File # 2023-3353

On March 6, 2023 the West Shore RCMP published a media release asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who discharged a firearm near the Jordie Lunn Bike Park located at 2990 Irwin Rd in Langford on February 20, 2023.

Thanks to the assistance of the public after releasing the video and photographs, the suspect was eventually identified as a 41-year-old Langford man.

On November 7, 2023 the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit arrested the suspect and executed search warrants for firearms and other evidence on his property.

During the search, investigators located and seized a significant number of restricted and prohibited firearms including 3 fully loaded home-made 3D-printed ghost guns along with body armour, ammunition, and other evidence that the suspect was 3D printing and manufacturing his own unregistered firearms.

The manufacture of home-made and 3D printed firearms creates a huge risk to public safety, and something we take very seriously, and we would like to thank the public for assisting us in identifying the suspect, said Inspector Stephen Rose, Officer in Charge of Operations at West Shore RCMP.

The suspect has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, contravention of storage regulations, and weapons manufacturing. The evidence is still being analyzed and more charges are expected.

The suspect has no criminal record and has been released on an undertaking with a court date of February 8, 2024.
