File # 2021-17158

A traffic stop stemming from an erratic driver complaint led to the arrest of the driver after the vehicle she was in was previously reported stolen.

On September 12, 2021, the West Shore RCMP received a traffic complaint for a black pick up truck travelling on Sooke Rd in Metchosin. A frontline officer located the vehicle in the 4000 block of Sooke Rd and conducted a traffic stop. Upon investigating, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Shawnigan Lake earlier in the month.

The female driver was subsequently arrested. As the investigation progressed, it was learned that the driver had provided a false name to police, was breaching several of her court imposed conditions and was in possession of other stolen properties, stated Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.

48 year-old Nancy Klein was arrested and held in custody as the investigation continued.
