File # 2021-16625

The West Shore RCMP is advising residents in the Colwood area that a search for a suspect in an on-going Victoria Police Department (Vic PD) investigation has concluded.

Just after 5 a.m. this morning, Sunday September 5, 2021, West Shore RCMP frontline officers along with the officers from the Integrated Police Dog Service flooded a Colwood neighbourhood to search for a suspect who had fled the scene of an on-going Vic PD investigation.

Officers located the suspect’s vehicle near the Royal Roads University, the suspect had fled prior to the vehicle being located. Despite significant searches, the suspect has not been located.

We understand the concern of seeing so many police officers in a quiet community on a Sunday morning. states S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the BC RCMP. We want to reassure the public that we believe the suspect is no longer in the area but are continuing efforts to locate him through investigative means,in partnership with Vic PD.

Further enquiries should be directed to the Victoria Police Department.
