File # 2021-11575

The West Shore RCMP recently intercepted a shipment of suspected cocaine destined for the lower island.

Earlier this month, the West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit entered into a criminal investigation of a Colwood man suspected of dealing in a controlled substance. Information suggested the man was transporting the substance from Vancouver to Victoria BC, for distribution throughout the greater Victoria area.

On June 23, 2021, officers from the West Shore RCMP Drug and Organized Crime Unit intercepted the man in his vehicle after he departed the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, after arriving on the ferry from Tsawwassen.

Police located and seized one kilogram of a substance believed to be cocaine and $750 in Canadian currency. The man, a 26 year old Colwood resident, was arrested and released pending a court appearance for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

This is a considerable amount of suspected cocaine which is no longer available to local dealers who prey on our vulnerable and addicted. said Cst Meighan Massey, West Shore RCMP Media Liaison Officer, Outcomes like this showcase our continued dedication to consistently disrupting the drug trade in our communities.
