File # 2024-16719

On August 30 at 6:25 AM the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a group of four people experiencing medical distress at the beach access parking area on Taylor Road in Metchosin.

A substantial police response, as well as multiple units from the BC Emergency Health Services and Metchosin Fire Department also attended.

Evidence of hard drug use was apparent at the scene.

Despite extensive life-saving efforts of first responders, two adult females were confirmed to be deceased at the scene. Two adult males appeared to be suffering drug overdoses and were rushed to hospital where they remain in critical condition.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified, and police are continuing their investigation.

No foul play is suspected and there is no risk to the general public at this time.

Beach and road access may be restricted in the area of Taylor Rd while the investigation is underway. We appreciate the public’s cooperation in staying away from the area while investigators continue their work. Our condolences go out to the families of these individuals, as well as the witnesses who first came across the incident.
