File # 2024-14205

On July 25 at approximately 6:18 p.m., West Shore RCMP Frontline and Traffic Unit officers attended the scene of single vehicle crash involving a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Millstream Rd and Hoylake Ave in Langford. A witness advised the motorcycle took a wide turn crashing into the curb before falling on it’s side.

Emergency Health Services also attended as the 47-year-old male driver sustained injures in the crash. The driver was taken to hospital to receive care and is expected to recover.

Officers determined the male was prohibited from driving and further the motorcycle had been uninsured since October 2023. Police suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and demanded he provide a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device. The driver refused to cooperate with this demand.

The driver was arrested for prohibited driving and failure to provide a breath sample. He was issued an Undertaking with an upcoming court date regarding these offences. He was also charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for no insurance which comes with a $698 fine. The motorcycle was towed and impounded for 7 days and must undergo an inspection due to the damage it sustained in the collision.
