Excessive speeders caught in West Shore

This week West Shore RCMP Traffic Unit has issued violation tickets to 4 drivers for excessive speeding.

The following 4 vehicles were caught speeding around different parts of the West Shore. One of four drivers was also impaired by drugs:

Each of the drivers were issued a violation ticket for excessive speeding in addition to the vehicles being towed and impounded for 7 days. The ticket plus tow and impound fee will cost the drivers upwards of $1500 in fines.

In B.C. the Motor Vehicle Act defines excessive speeding as driving at a speed greater than 40 km an hour over the speed limit. If caught, you may be ticketed and your vehicle towed and impounded for a minimum of 7 days for first time offenders and 30 days for repeat offenders. If you exceed the limit by more than 40km an hour, you’ll be fined $368 and have three penalty points added to your driving record.
